Attorney Profile Mr. Showrai graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), with a Bachelor of Arts in History. After a brief stint as a long haul commercial truck driver, Mr. Showrai enrolled at Western State University College of Law in Fullerton , California , on an academic scholarship. While attending law school at WSU, Mr. Showrai participated in numerous extracurricular activities, ranging from serving as a Lt. Governor of the Ninth Circuit for the American Bar Association Law Student Division, to being one of nine students chosen to work as a Certified Law Student in the WSU Legal Clinic. As a Lt. Governor for the ABALSD, Mr. Showrai emphasized increasing membership in the Law Student Division of the ABA , especially among minorities and women. As a Certified Law Student, Mr. Showrai had a limited license from the California Bar Association to act as an attorney for his clients at the Legal Clinic under the supervision of the Legal Clinic's faculty advisor. His clients at the WSU Legal Clinic had needs ranging from obtaining dissolutions of marriage (and the related issues of child and spousal support, as well as settling child custody), to defending a breach of contract claim against the Ford Motor Company, and successfully obtaining a domestic violence restraining order for a client who was a victim of domestic violence while living with her then boyfriend. During law school, Mr. Showrai was regularly on the Dean's List, or the Dean's Honor List, which is granted to those who maintain a high grade point average. Mr. Showrai was also a three time winner of The Witkin Award for academic excellence which is granted to the student with the highest grade in each academic subject. Mr. Showrai won for International Law, Negotiations and Environmental Law. While attending WSU, Mr. Showrai served as a judicial extern for California Appellate Court Justice Edward J. Wallin (ret.) at Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services (JAMS). While clerking for Justice Wallin, Mr. Showrai aided Justice Wallin in mediating cases ranging from $120,000,000.00 corporate litigation, to multimillion dollar wrongful death claims, and the mediation of labor and management conflicts. After graduating from law school, Mr. Showrai took and passed the Washington State Bar Examination on his first attempt. Mr. Showrai joined Diamond, Burt & Akhkashian as the managing partner in charge of Diamond, Burt & Akhkashian's Seattle operations.
